There are variety of manufacturers of fishing equipment.  As fishing continues to grow in popularity, more and more new manufacturers enter the market, trying to make their mark among already established brands such as Abu Garcia.

This leads to the question, “Does brand name really matter?”  This question comes up with most anything.  Does it matter if your jeans are made by Wrangler, Levi’s, or Gap?  Or if you opt for the generic form of a prescription over its brand name counterpart?  With anything, though, you can argue that, sometimes, you get what you pay for, and fishing reels are no exception.

Fishing reels can be quite expensive.  If you’re on the market for a new reel, you might be questioning whether you want to splurge on a more expensive brand name model, which includes Abu Garcia.  You might be wondering whether you have to compromise cash for quality—or whether you will need to compromise quality to save some cash. While this is the case for some brands, which offer high-quality reels with a high price tag, this is not necessarily true of all brands.

So, what do you get when you opt for a brand name more expensive reel?  Among the benefits:  The reel and its components may be made from higher quality materials; more bearings; wider selection of gear ratios; and more ergo-dynamic features.  All of which may lead to a more durable, smoother, and more comfortable fishing reel.

But, there are brands out there that offer quality fishing reels at affordable prices.  Abu Garcia is one of those brands.  And yes, there are others; but, the great thing about this particular company, and the reason I am high-lighting them, is that they offer quality reels that meet most any budget, whether you are looking for a less expensive model, like the Black or Silver Max Baitcasting Reel, or willing to splurge on a more expensive one, like the Revo TORO NaCl Low Profile Baitcaster Reel.

Even those new to fishing are familiar with this well-established brand; it has come a long way and made a name for itself.  Walk into most any large sporting goods store, and you will find an array of fishing equipment from the manufacturer.  The brand has also established itself in the online market, and many of its reels are available in a variety of online venues as well.  Eposeidon.com sells a variety of Abu Garcia reels, including the Ambassadeur. It is a reel that Jeremy Wade, the television star of River Monsters, is known to use.

The great thing about brands like Abu Garcia is that you are getting a piece of gear from an already established brand and that they offer gear that varies in price.  And while the options vary between their lesser and more expensive products, whether you opt for one of their cheaper or more expensive reels, you get great quality.
